Blue Sage Vegan Bistro

Locals, Phoebe Glass and Amir Salem, are co owners and operators of Blue Sage Vegan Bistro in the River market at 400 President Clinton dr.

Today my family went downtown to eat some vegan comfort food. I am a proud home cook and can make smoothies, juices, buddha bowls, and some baked items but I have a long way to go to reach the level of flavor, tang and zest I have discovered at this local hot spot. And it’s A LOT of food for a humble amount as opposed to some vegan fare you may find.

We each had an order of Spiral Out fries, I ordered the Don’t be Chik’n Sandwich for my husband, and I had the Philly Cheeze Steak sandwich this afternoon. I have been here two other times and feel lots of love from these two.

They also own Shambala Mobile Vegan kitchen, which I’m sure you have seen billed at food truck festivals locally. They are also available for events and catering!

I used to love a chicken fried chicken sandwich with cheese and ranch dressing and this definitely fills me up but without the bad karma. Completely vegan. Completely ravishing.

Grilled Mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, jalapeños, vegan cheeze sauce and vegan aioli. I had to take a look after my first bite because the texture of the mushrooms was impeccable. I almost though there was a mess up. It tasted much better than any philly I had as an omnivore, I can attest to that!

The Spiral Out fries are shoestring potatoes with green onions, vegan aioli and cheeze sauce (perfect for tiny tots). My son is getting to where he will not eat his vegetables unless it’s hiding kale in a fruit smoothie. But green onions on his cheeze fries is just fine.

Also a great place to meet other local vegans you might only know from social media! Hi, Christine Jones ❤️ I even met an Instagram friend today, not pictured.

Thanks for reading this blog and please go down and give them a try for lunch one day. Thank you Phoebe and Amir for the passion and commitment you have to serve local vegan food at an affordable price.

That looks so awesome!! I feel ya on finding more people that are vegan. My wife and I are transitioning now to fully plant based and we live about an hour outside of Little Rock where I was raised hunting and fishing and pretty much all the things southern. Lol. They think we’re crazy and we have to drive to another town for things as simple as Just Mayo and nutritional yeast so I’ve had to learn to cook a lot of thinks from scratch. Everything was pretty foreign to us because in my family if it stayed still long enough it would be battered and fried or slathered in butter or gravy. Lmao! It’s a learning process. Glad I found your blog.
